Stone's charged expose of big business sports is a rush of adrenaline, powered by an all-star cast. The film follows a fictional
football franchise--the Miami Sharks--who make a push for the playoffs when third string quarterback Willie Beamen (Fox) steps
into the starting position. As veteran coach Tony D'Amato (Pacino) begins to realize that the game he once knew and loved
is passing him by, he must continue to do his job, even amidst the endless outside distractions. Ex-NFL linebacker Taylor
is especially impressive as an aging player.
